Sorority Row

I chose Sorority Row because the story line is similar to ours.

In “Sorority Row” the film starts off with the camera craning down the black trees to show horror and mysterious which will represent to secret of the film. It also introduces the house that is the Sorority house.

The camera slowly tracks to the house with low lighting, suddenly a scream. This is not shown as to whom is screaming because it sounds like a murder, the audience will want to know who has died so early in the film. Then the lighting from inside sees a girl running out of the doors, this could be seen as someone chasing her. The camera has long shots throughout the party scene to show all the different crazy things going off such as the cheerleaders dancing. Also it shows a lot of half-naked girls to entice the male audience, as they will want to pull in more money from the cinemas if more men just want to go to see girls in underwear.

The cheerleaders have their own long shot to show the cliché of the American teen horror films that there are cheerleaders in them. Even though the audience can get fed up of predictable horror films they will like the cliché of sexy cheerleaders, because they know it will lead to sex.

The camera has a medium shot of a boy shocked at all the girls, this gives off humour to the audience. Especial male audience who will think that he is probably never seen a girl before.

The drink is shown being thrown on the boy because he has down something wrong. The camera shows the girl not the boy to show the humour that his girlfriend is angry but he could just find another girl at the party, which makes the audience know that sex or more girls will be involved.

A lonely woman in the kitchen to show that the college students still get told off for causing problems. The other reason is that audience will feel that this party is so cool that the teachers let them have it this will entice the audience into what else could happen at the party.

All the girls are together in a room, the camera has a close up to show different expressions on their faces when they say why they love each other, this is so the audience can straight away know which girl is which and also they can have a category for each girl as to how the plot will go.

The music builds up tension so the audience feel that something is building up, as to if she is dead or not.  This makes the audience want to keep watching.

In the car the cameras is fast pace and unstill to show erratic movements of the group as to what they are going through. Some are laughing, crying, scared or worried this is good because the audience have no clue how her boyfriend will take the prank. This audience will feel the suspense of the unknown and they will keep watching.

The place the group goes to is very dark and mysterious, this builds up the tension of the problems that can occur and the plot of the story, as to who will be the murder and what will happen to the group. This leaves a lot more suspense to the audience.

There is a deep focus on the cranes to show the danger of the place as to where they are and this could end in a really bad way for them.  This will contribute to the horror suspense.

There is a long shot to how the dark and mysterious place to where they are and they are so remote. There secret show is safe here, but the audience know that it is too early in the film to know that their secret will be safe. Even through the audience already know the secret will not be safe they don’t know the secret.
