5. How did you attract/address your audience?
What audience do you think our film was aimed at?

What certificate would you class our film as?
Whilst we were planning our film we created a viral
advertisement that we each showed our friends to see if they were interested in
the main storyline of our film. The viral advert was a news campaign of Chloe’s
mother appealing for information on the whereabouts of her daughter. We also
shared this clip on YouTube.
We also tried to make sure that our audience could relate to
at least one of our characters. We did this by the conventions of social groups
and the current styles of trends using mise-en-scene, our characters were
dressed in current fashion trends such as crop tops, skirts, jumpers, jean and
band t-shirts so our audience also had similar dress sense to the characters in
the film. We had a stereotypical girly-girl, this was Lola she cared more about
her appearance than the people around her and close to her, she is very
self-centred and pressures her friends into doing the things that she does. We
had a very chilled laid back casual girl, this was Beth she is very open minded
and keen to try new things and doesn’t seem to care about what anyone thinks of
her. Our final character was a geek, this was Chloe, she was very smart and
naïve, she is easily influenced and bullied into things that she knows is wrong
but doesn’t want people to think she is
a coward.
We used a dark storyline as teenagers are usually into dark
themes and scary but exciting films so we thought this would interest us and
the people in our generation. We also based it on the effects of drug use and
being pressured into taking them, as recently a lot of teenagers in the ages of
our target audience are being pressured into drugs without realising what could
happen to them and the people around them therefore we believed this was a
great way of making them aware of what the consequences are and can be.
We used social networking sites to attract the audience by
sharing clips and questionnaires so we could see what people our age thought to
our plans. We also used twitter as an advertisement we posted storylines, teasers
and managed to generate 70 followers.
The main success was the questionnaire after the film, this
gave us the best insight to in how successful we had been in attracting our
audience. I think that the least successful thing was the viral advertisement
as it was very time consuming as I took a long time to make the banners and
edit and we didn’t upload it to YouTube until after the final film had been
uploaded.
I think that the work could be improved by us having a
longer deadline as I feel that some of our work was rushed and that we weren’t
fully focused as we were stressed and felt under a lot of pressure. I think
that if we could do it again we would aim for a much simpler storyline as some
of the shots that we needed to do were very difficult and we didn’t expect them
to be as tricky as they turned out to be.
