Film Four Productions

Channel 4 is a broadcasting company but has a public service remit, this means it does not only work for profit but for the public needs. To do this Channel 4 must:

  • demonstrate innovation and experiment with creativity
  • appeal to the tastes and interests of the diversity of culture society
  • exhibit a distinct character
  • produce independent
History of Channel 4:
  • started in 1982
  • 1992-97 "The Crying Game" took $62 in US
  • 1998- creation of Film Four

Films distributed by Channel Four/ Film Four:

  • Four Lions

  • 127 hours

  • Attack the Block

I like Film4 because as a vertical company from Channel 4 they still make films that fill the public need. In Four Lions as the director crowd sourced an audience Film4 produced the film to keep the audience happy. In the media project of A.BAN.DON the film will only appeal to a small audience as it is very different to usual films. Film4 produce films that are mainly about things most audiences wouldn't expect. Even through the film has some aspects of Inception we used them ideas to put a point across of drug use.
